Dr Richard J Snoad - Periodontist
Richard qualified as a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Dundee University in 1980. He gained experience in general practice and some years later joined the Royal Army Dental Corps serving in the first Gulf War. After gaining an MS (with distinction) in Periodontology from the University of London, in 1996 he became the Commander of the tri-Service Defence Dental Agency.
He retired from the Army in June 2001 to become Head of Periodontics for ORA Dental Group, London and in 2003 gained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He has published internationally and holds executive positions on a number of Boards. Richard now divides his time between his freelance specialist practice and academic research into Periodontal Risk Assessment, Remote-Expert Specialist Programmes.
Dr Paul Ward - Orthodontist
An Orthodontic Specialist, Paul splits his professional time between practices in Teddington, Redhill and Dorking. He qualified as a Dentist from Sheffield University in 1993 and spent the next few years working in General Dental Practice and hospital departments, mainly in oral surgery.
He gained the Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in 1998 and Specialist Orthodontic qualifications (M'Orth and MSc) when accepted onto the General Dental Council Specialist List in 2002. His main interest is the treatment of adults with invisible 'lingual' braces. This a relatively new technique allowing treatment of problems without the use of visible, unsightly braces - a great solution for most adults.
Paul is currently treasurer of the British Lingual Orthodontic Society and on the organising committee for the forthcoming European Lingual Orthodontic Conference. He spends his time outside work walking his dog in the Surrey Hills.
