Forest treatment roomThis autumn our endodontic and implant clinics will be starting work in the new Forest Treatment Room. Designed with you, our patient, in mind, the room features a beautiful ‘tranquility’ wall, with a floor to ceiling mural depicting a meandering path through a forest glade. You will find it a stress free environment in which you will relax as you recline in the pressure-mapped, comfort enhanced chair.

The Forest Treatment Room comes fully equipped with a custom built ‘scrub’ area, separated by a bespoke curved wall (a story in itself and one of the reasons the installation took longer than planned). And in September we will be taking delivery of a highly specialised ‘Global’ Root Canal Microscope, for endodontics. (This is such a specialised item that it had to be ordered from the USA as it cannot be sourced in the UK). We have also fitted a state-of the art vacuum autoclave, to ensure that we comply with the current ‘best-practice’ guidelines for Dental Implant treatment.

Dr Vipul KatariaDr Vipul Kataria, who carries out our Endodontics (root treatments) at Longborough has been very enthusiastically accepted into the Longborough family both by our patients and our team and he is delighted with the new treatment room.

Whilst his area of expertise might not sound like the most comfortable or enjoyable aspect of dental treatment, Longborough patients are discovering that Vipul delivers just that. Close to completing his Msc in Endodontics at The Eastman Dental Institute we look forward to Vipul qualifying in his specialist field in the very near future.

Longborough Dental Team

To ensure that we continue to provide the very best care for our patients the Longborough dental and administration teams undertook a wide and varying programme of continuing professional development in 2009; attending courses, talks, meetings, conferences and showcases. The whole team has attended courses in Customer Services, Communication skills, Cross Infection Control (ensuring patients are guaranteed the ‘best practice’ in this area), Radiation Protection (X-ray’s), Basic Life Support and Anaphylaxis training.

Longborough Partner, Dr Shernaz Wadia took her Implant team (nurses, hygiene therapist and practice manager) to the Association of Dental Implantology Biennial Conference in Birmingham and attended a wide range of presentations to increase their knowledge and understanding of the techniques and applications of implant dentistry. And our dentists have attended a range of courses in restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, 4-handed dentistry and dental implants in addition to ‘Communication Skills.’ Patients can be confident that we are fully informed of the latest developments in dentistry and intend to continue our professional development in 2010.

Dorking Orthodontics logoPaul Ward, our resident specialist orthodontist, will continue to attend regular weekly surgeries on Fridays at Longborough. Please ask your dentist or one of the reception team if you have any concerns or require a referral for specialist orthodontic treatment.
